Bharathidasan was subtle and sharp in this song to have infused a perfect and strong dose of self realization to the entire Tamil race on earth. In singing a lullaby to his girl as he and his wife rocking the cradle for the child to sleep, he woke up the entire Tamil population to know to do what next to put Tamil language on an immovable and stong pedestal to stand up to the onslaught of Sanskrit and Hindi on all Dravidian languages. It was the period of time when other sister-Dravidian languages like Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada were eaten away by Sanskritization. The song "Thunbam Nergayil yaazh yeduthu nee inbam serkka maattaaya...?"

is one such song written by Puratchik Kavinger Bharathidasan that has such longivity to live up to the end of the world. The other day, I read in a website as some one that he or she could not understand the meaning of the song written by Bharatidasan. That person has requested for someone to explain the meaning of the song. I take up the "task" to explain that person the meaning of the song. I wish I succeed in my effort. For, to decode Bharatidasan's mind thru his writings is like going in a mission to measure the heat and light that is there in the core of the sun that makes every object on earth to reflect its light thereby making the object to be known by us by its use and name.

அன்றொரு நாள் மின்வலையில் யாரோ ஒருவர் புரட்சிக் கவி பாவேந்தர்
பாரதிதாசனார் எழுதிய துனபம் நேர்கையில் யாழெடுத்து நீ இன்பம் சேர்க்க மாட்டாயா என்னும் உலகுள்ளளவும் நிலைபேறுடைய நெஞ்சினை உருக்கும் அழகிய பாடலின் பொருள் புரியவில்லை, யாரேனும் அதை விளக்க இயலுமா என்று கேட்டிருந்தார்கள். கதிரொளி படும் பொருளைஎல்லாம் கண்கள் காணுமாறு ஒளிரும் ஞாயிற்றின் திறனை அளக்கும் இயலா முயற்சி எதுவோ அதைப் போன்றதே அடியேன் அந்தப் பைந்தமிழ்த் தேர்ப்பாகனின் செந்தமிழ்த் தெளிவின் சுவையை இதுவென்று கூறப் புகுந்த இந்த முயற்சி.

மகளே, துன்ப நிலை ஒன்று வருமென்று தோன்றுகிறது எனக்கு.

அது வரும்போது அதை மாற்றும் வகையாய் உன் வாய் மலரும் மழலைச் சொற்களுக்கே இணையென்று வள்ளுவன் பகர்ந்த யாழினைக் கையெடுத்து அதனை இன்னிசை ததும்ப மீட்டி என் மனதில் இன்ப உணர்வினை நீ சேர்க்க மாட்டாயா?

௨. அன்பில்லா நெஞ்சில் தமிழில் பாடி நீ அல்லல் நீக்க மாட்டாயா, கண்ணே-(துனபம் நேர்கையில் )

மகளே, தமிழ் மொழியின் மீது அன்பற்றுப்போன நெஞ்சங்களில் அல்லல்தான் குடிகொண்டுள்ளது.

அத்தகைய அன்பில்லா நெஞ்சில் நீ எம்மொழியில் பாடினாலும் இன்பம் இடம்பெற எவ்வழியுமில்லை.

அதனால் அகவிருளை நீக்கி அறிவொளியை ஏற்றும் அழகு தமிழ் மொழியில் நீ பாடி எம் நெஞ்சில் படர்ந்துள்ள அல்லலாகிய இருளை நீக்கிட மாட்டாயா?

This song is written in such a fervor that a father and mother request their girl child who is believed to be put in its cradle to sleep and make that child to sleep they sing this song bringing out their mean desires on her to make her entire life to be dedicated to the three froms of Tamil language to prosper in blooming gaits. So, this song is a lullaby per se.

The cloud of sorrows when engulf us, Oh, dear child, won't you infuse happiness and joy in our minds with the lyre that you play to our pleasure?

2. Anbillaa nenjil Thamizhlil paadi allal neekka maattaayaa?

Oh, child! Those minds filled in by dismay and sorrow are the ones bereft of the love they need to have on Tamil language. The only way to oust such wretchedness from those minds is to replenish it with the singing in Tamil alone. Doing so, won't you bring home the sweeness in contention of mind filled in with pleasure by the nectar that Tamil language alone could offer to all.

மதுவந்தி - கல்வித்துறையின் பூலான் தேவி

மதுவந்தி என்பவள் ஒரு திரைப்பட நடிகனின் உறவு. இவள் காலிபர் என்னும் குழந்தைகள் பள்ளியைத் தொடங்கினால். அமெரிக்காவிலிருந்து வந்த இவள் சென்னையில் தொடங்கிய மழலையர் பள்ளிக்கூடம் கடந்த ஆண்டு ஆஹா ஓஹோ என்று மேட்டுக்குடியினரால் புகழ்ந்து பேசப்பட்டது. இரண்டு வயது கூட நிரம்பாத மழலையருக்கு "அமெரிக்கக் கல்வியை" அள்ளித் தரப்போகிறேன், வந்து வாங்கிக் கொள்ளுங்கள் என இவள் சாற்றிய பறையோசையைக் கேட்டு செவிடான பணக்கார பெற்றோர்கள் பலர் மதுவந்தி பரப்பிய நாற்றத்தை நறுமணம் என்று தவறாகக் கருதி தத்தம் குழந்தைகள் ஒவ்வொருவரின் பேரிலும் எழுபது ஆயிரம் ரூபாய்கள் வரை கல்விக் கட்டணமாகக் கட்டி முதலில் மகிழ்ந்தனர். ரூபாயின் போதையில் நேர்மை, சட்டம், வரப்போகும் அவப்பெயர், சிறைவாசம் என்பனவற்றை மறந்த பணப்பேய்கள் தம்முடைய தன்மானம் உட்பட எதையும் இழக்கத் தயார் என்பதற்கு எடுத்துக் காட்டாக பணவெறி பித்தேறி மதுவந்தினி தன பெயருக்கு ஏற்றாற்போல் மதுவின் பித்தேறி குழந்தைகளின் பெற்றோரிடம் பற்பல காரணங்களுக்காக மேலும் மேலும் பல்லாயிரம் பணம் கறக்க முற்பட்டுள்ளார்.


தமிழ் நாடு அரசின் கல்ல்வித் துறையோ அமைச்சகமோ அளிக்காத அனுமதியைப் பற்றி சற்றும் கவலை கொள்ளாது மதுவந்தி "அமெரிக்கன் சிஸ்டம்" கல்வி என்ற முகத்திரையின் பின்னால் பலரிடம் பல லட்சம் பணங்களை பகல் கொள்ளை அடித்து தன உறவினன் ஒய். ஜி. மகேந்திரனையும் விட சிறந்த நடிகை தானே என்று ஊரறிய தன்னை உரித்துக் காட்டியிருக்கிறாள்.


தமிழ் நாட்டின் நகரமன்றங்கள் - முனிசிபாலிட்டிகள் - நடத்தும் பள்ளிகளில் பயிலும் மாணவர்களும் மாணவிகளும் பள்ளியிறுதி தேர்வுகளில் முதலாம் மதிப்பெண்கள் பெறுவோராக இருக்க, சென்னை நகரத்து பணத் திமிர்கொண்ட பெற்றோர்கள் மதுவந்தி போன்ற தன்னலக் கொண்டான்மார்களின் தாளிப்பில் கருகிய கடுகுகளாய் வாடி, வதங்கி, நிறம் மாறி தற்போது தங்களின் மழலைகளை அரசாங்கம் நடத்தும் பள்ளிகளை நோக்கி அனுப்புகின்றனர்.

கல்வியை கடைச் சரக்காக மாற்றிடும் மதுவந்தி போன்ற கயவர்களை இனியேனும் நாம் நம்புதல் நம்மை நாமே அழிக்கும் அவமாகும்.
